A imagem criada por Diane Dumas remete as gárgulas, originalmente a parte saliente das calhas de telhados que têm a função de escoar águas pluviais a certa distância da parede. Na Idade Média, no universo da arquitetura gótica, ganham figurações monstruosas, tanto humanas como animalescas. A artista realiza o vínculo entre esse universo visual com as narrativas envolvendo o célebre personagem Batman e o seu local de ação, Gotham City, representado de diversas formas nas histórias e quadrinhos e no cinema, em uma ambientação geralmente densa e assustadora.

The image created by Diane Dumas refers to the gargoyles, originally the protruding part of roof gutters that have the function of draining rainwater at a certain distance from the wall. In the Middle Ages, in the universe of Gothic architecture, they gained monstrous figures, both human and animal. The artist links this visual universe with the narratives involving the famous character Batman and his place of action, Gotham City, represented in different ways in stories, comics and in cinema, in a generally dense and frightening environment.
