TEACHING COMPUTER TO SENIOR CITIZENS
My Aunt Viola is a retired schoolteacher. She taught for over forty years in her small town and only retired when the school moved to a bigger building and she could no longer walk to work. When you speak to her you can tell she demands your attention like you were one of her students. I still feel if I say something wrong, she will slap me across my knuckles with her pointer. She is now living in a retirement community and loves it. She has taken over the computer room and loves when someone asks for her help with the entertainment PC. She is still much the teacher and gives the “senior students” homework to do so the next time she sees them in the computer room they can tell her what they learned. A lot of the senior citizens living there are happy for her help as some of them never worked with computers before. They call her “Teach” and raise their hands just as they did in grammar school. She told me one of her students even brought her an apple, which brought back so many good memories for her. She loved her job as an educator and is taking advantage of teaching senior citizens in her new community.
